Valentine's Day and More!

The kids have been working hard but have also enjoyed some fun activities the past week or two! Last week, they created 3-D valentines cards for their reading buddies in addition to our regular reading rotations! Due to a short week, we are taking a break from our reading rotations and doing a short novel study together on Sarah, Plain and Tall.

In math, students have continued to learn about fractions. We have been focusing on comparing and ordering fractions. One fun activity that they worked on last week was to use their creative minds to make animals completely out of hearts.

Science time has rocked - literally! We are studying rocks and minerals. They enjoyed breaking apart a mockrock (aka cookie) to break it into its "minerals". They learned that rocks are made up of many different kinds of minerals. They also took a small quiz on the three main types of rocks.
