February

February has been filled with valentines, potatoes, and crayfish! We can't forget the fractions or the visit from the McWane Science Center, either!  The class has been doing a tremendous job in writing.   You can see a lot of their written work on Schoology under the writing folder.  Enjoy the pictures from the past several weeks!

February Update

We have finally got back into the swing of things with school!  Thankfully, we have not had much sickness in our class so far!  All of those Clorox wipes that you have sent in have definitely been useful.

In class, students have been working really hard on polishing their writing skills.  They have completed two persuasive essays (You can find these in their google drive folders).  We are currently working on personal narratives.  These should be finished late next week!  Students have also started new novel groups.  They are reading the following novels:  Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, The Infamous Ratsos, The Terrible Two, and Alvin Ho.  These have been some really great books to learn more about comprehension and reflective responses in their reading journals.

The class has had a blast in science!  They have been learning all about seeds and germination of plants.  They have grown their own plants in minisprouters, and now we have transplanted them into a hydroponics setup to see if they continue to grow without soil!  Soon, we will be investigating live crayfish in the classroom.

In math, students have been working hard on graphing.  They completed a fun emoji graphing activity.  After that, we have started working with fractions.  They have already learned a lot!
