September 25

Can you believe that it is almost October? This year is really moving quickly! Students have enjoyed learning about bats this week during our reading time! Most of them loved reading about the wrinkle-faced bat and how it doesn't have any fur on its face! Some of the girls weren't so impressed! Look it up - it's creepy.

Students also began learning their multiplication facts this week. Please have them practice nightly to learn to recall their facts as quickly as possible. We will have timed tests each week on the new learned facts. So far, they have begun learning 0,1, and 2.

In your child's Friday folder, look for a sheet on creating a Character pumpkin!

Dictionaries

We have had a great week with a lot of learning! We started learning how to represent multiplication problems in math. In reading, the kids loved learning about some famous baseball players including Roberto Clemente and Babe Ruth! Also, we were all amazed at how quickly our plants are growing!

The Homewood Rotary Club donated dictionaries to all third graders in our school. A few representatives came and presented them to the kids!

September

This week students read a great story called "Pop's Bridge", a historical fiction selection about the building of the Golden Gate Bridge. They compared and contrasted characters, and they also did many activities learnings about types of nouns.

Did you know that we are growing our very own plants? The students have enjoyed learning more about our Wisconsin Fast Growing Plants! We hope to see some of them growing soon.

Friday fun

Our class was thrilled to meet their Kindergarten reading buddies today. We have paired with Katie Thomas's class for this fun time of reading.

Don't forget that we are out of school on Monday for Labor Day! Have a wonderful long weekend!
