August 26

Happy Friday! We have had a great week in third grade! Students have worked really hard this week in addition and subtraction. Many students are still not automatic with their subtraction facts. Please have your child practice these nightly!

In reading, we completed a fun character traits project where students wrote positive traits about themselves! We also completed reading stations this week focusing on main idea and details, schoology discussion, and long vowel sound phonics.

In science, students completed some STEM activities to help prepare them for next week's science kit on Forces and Motion.

Here are some fun pictures from this week!

Reading Buddies

Our class had a FANTASTIC first full week of school! Students learned how to do reading stations and math stations! In reading, we read a fun story called A Fine, Fine School. We even had a guest reader - Dr. Kiser! Students learned about sentence structure and spent a lot of time writing this week! Students also got to visit with their Kindergarten reading buddies today!

In math, students continued to review rounding. We also started learning different strategies for addition.

Thank you for your help in making sure that they do their homework each night!

First week!

We have had a fantastic first week! The students have a new school motto - Be the best ME I can be! They have been putting this into practice through making a "Me by the Numbers" and a fun writing activity that you will see on Parent Night.

Don't forget that there are two Parent Night sessions Tuesday, August 16. The first session begins 6:00, and the second one is at 6:35. I look forward to seeing you there!
