Halloween and Thanksgiving

Halloween was a lot of fun! We did spooky math stations with subtraction tombstones, pumpkin graphing, candy corn bingo, and Halloween tangrams. Students also used math skills to make a math monster glyph. This week, we were able to use Google Hangouts to do a video session with Andrew Cleveland, a senior at HHS. He will be our high school reading buddy for the year!

In math, students are so close to finishing learning their multiplication facts. All we have left are 8's facts. Please continue to have them practice nightly.

Reading has been a lot of fun! Students have learned about idioms and used the Amelia Bedelia books to create mini idioms books. They have also worked on a pumpkin "Fall Is" writing activity, as well as making a President brochure. One of their favorite writing activities has been a fun "I am thankful for..." activity where they were assigned various topics such as baby wipes, mirrors, and chickens.

Science time has included learning about magnets and levitation. Next week, they will be designing a maglev train system that actually levitates! I will try to get some videos on our instagram account!

**DON'T FORGET THAT WE HAVE NO SCHOOL TOMORROW, FRIDAY NOVEMBER 11TH FOR VETERAN'S DAY!!!**
