January came and went already! In February, our class has already been working extremely hard! They have made snowmen poems, written their first official 5 paragraph expository essay, and have finished learning about graphing and division!
In February, students will be growing their own bean plants using hydroponics and even investigating crayfish! They will also be working on fractions as well as continuing to finesse their writing! Our next writing topic is a persuasive essay on the best Valentines Day candy!
Please continue having your child read for at least 30 minutes each night!

January
Students have learned a lot since we came back from Christmas break! In math, students have finished learning the meaning of division and division problem solving. We are now pushing through graphing! They will be learning how to do bar graphs, tally charts, pictographs, and line plots. After that, we will begin fractions!
In reading, the class has started several projects. They have completed a winter snowman writing project, and they are currently working on an arctic animal research project.
We have taken a short break from science to focus on social studies. Students, along with a partner, have been researching and creating their own booklets about several different national symbols.
Please continue to encourage your child to read nightly. Consistent reading is a great predictor for future reading and academic achievement.
